According to the report, there are only 13 countries that lag behind India in the Hunger Index. Included Countries like these Rwanda ( 097 ), Nigeria ( 098 ), Afghanistan ( 099 ), Libya ( 102 ), Mozambique ( 103 ), Chad ( 107 ).
Malnutrition in India
According to the report, about 14% of India’s population is malnourished. Malnutrition among children in India is appalling. The Global Hunger Index 2020 is formulated in a country based on the proportion of undernourished children, children under five years of age, whose weight or length is less than age-wise, and mortality rates in children under five years of age. Similarly, 20 to 34.9 points in the report means a severe hunger crisis. 35 to 49.9 points in the report means the condition is very challenging and 50 or more points means that there is a very terrible state of hunger in the country. India got 30.3 points in this report. This number means that there is a severe hunger crisis in India.

In the Global Hunger Index 2020, detailed information is given on the state of catering in different countries of the world. In this index, it is seen that what kind of food are people getting and how much is its quality and quantity and what are the deficiencies in it.
This report is released every year in the month of October. The International Food Policy Research Institute started the ‘Global Hunger Index’ in 2006. In 2006, a German organization named Welt HungerLife released the ‘Global Hunger Index’ for the first time.
