The New Education Policy expands the age group 6-14 years of mandatory schooling to 3-18 years of schooling. The NEP introduces hitherto uncovered three years of pre-schooling, age group of 3-6 years under the school curriculum. The new system will have 12 years of schooling with three years of Anganwadi/ pre-schooling.

It said that by the year 2022, the National Council of Education (NCTE) will prepare a share national professional standard for teachers for which NCERT, SCERT, teachers, and organizations of all levels and sectors will be consulted.
According to the policy, the review and research of professional standards will be in 2030 and thereafter every 10 years. Teachers will be recruited through effective and transparent processes, the document said. Promotions will be merit-based, with arrangements from time to time to evaluate work performance from multiple sources and to further your career as an educational administrator or educator.
A new and comprehensive National Curriculum Framework for School Education, ‘NCFSE 2020-21’ will be developed by NCERT. A national advisory mission will be established. There will be a large pool of senior/retired faculty with excellence. This will include people with the ability to study in Indian languages.
